Pretty Tablescape

Lately I’ve been really enjoying cooking for my family. And if you know me, that’s something I never thought I would say. (Baking is much more my thing!) But God has me in a huge season of growth as a wife and momma, and I now have a whole new love and appreciation for our home.

Even though our children are young and it might seem silly, I thought it would be fun to surprise everyone with a fancy dinner. I was inspired by the beautiful flowers Tanner had given me for Mother’s Day. I really let that be the focal point, and added a simple fabric napkin and napkin holder to each place setting. I of course lit my signature Anthropology candle, and played The Greatest Showman in the background. (That’s our favorite album to listen to right now.)

This simple “upgrade” from our usual dinner reminds me of my beautiful momma. Back when I was in elementary school, my mom would surprise us every so often with homemade cookies and milk. I remember my brothers and I would smile as we got home from school and saw the freshly made treats set up perfectly by candlelight. She’d even have paper napkins folded in half with individual notes saying how she loved and missed us. Though we were little, mom always found a way to make our house a home. She was quick to go that extra mile to make our memories more beautiful, and to remind us that we were cared for deeply and constantly. Mom made home an enjoyable place to gather.

What’s something simple you can you do today to brighten up your household?

Xo, Tay
