Happy Fall
There’s just something about knowing a new season is approaching that fills you with anticipation, hope, and excitement. It’s the joy you feel when you know those yearly traditions are to be made yet again. It’s the beauty in the way the scenery changes. Often times you hear of people fearing change, yet it’s in these times of year that I think we often look forward to it.
Can you believe that it’s already fall? Crisp autumn air, apple picking, gorgeous hues of red and orange, cozy sweaters, pumpkin patches, the smell of freshly baked pie…these are just some of the things that I am looking forward to.
My oldest daughter, Haven, has been so fond of baking lately. It’s actually been quite the blessing, because I grew up baking alongside both my mom and grandma. It’s surreal to now be grabbing a pretty apron, opening up a cherished cookbook, and baking treats with my little girl. It’s the simple moments like this, that I hold onto with the sweetest joy. These are the days I’ll look back on and smile.
The kids and I have a little board on Pinterest where we have all our ideas, and plans for this gorgeous season. It has everything from arts and crafts, to baking, to places we’d like to visit. It’s really more like a bucket list for us!
As a momma, I want to live intentionally. And I’ve learned that if I’m to live with intention, I need to be organized. I must take the time to diligently plan. What good is a goal if you take no steps to make it a reality? My mom often tells me, “If you don’t plan out your days, someone else will.” Isn’t that so true? Regardless of whether or not we made the plans ourselves, our days always end up filled with activities of some sort. So I’m learning to fill our days with beautiful memories, valuable life lessons, and most of all, Jesus.
“The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.” Proverbs 13:4
I don’t know about you, but I’d love to be richly supplied this season. (With treasures money can’t buy!) I long to see my family enjoy every moment…simple, or extravagant. I don’t want to miss those opportunities to marvel at the beauty of God’s creation together, or to snuggle up on the couch, appreciating the beautiful gift of family. I want to live my days with purpose, so that God is most glorified, and so that my family reaps all the benefits of a wife, and mom whose heart is fixed on God.
So here I am. I’ve got a calendar in hand, my bible in the other, and my Pinterest board open with endless possibilities. A new season is here, and I’m more ready than I ever have been.
Fall, we’re ready for ya!
