The Home that Tells a Story

This year, God completely changed the way I view our home. I never considered myself a homebody until recently. I’ve found so much joy in creating a space that really tells our story. From the photos, to the décor, it shares so many of our values, interests, and beautiful memories.

Lately, I have loved having my sweet friend Juliana design prints for our home with sayings, and bible verses that are dear to us. I have two so far, but I am certain I’ll be having her create more during this holiday season. (Oh and did I mention she offers custom Christmas cards?!)

The first print I gave to Tanner was for his birthday. It says, “Oh darling, lets make much of Jesus together.” This is mine and Tanner’s saying. (If that’s even a thing haha!) God completely transformed our marriage this year, and it’s been the absolute best season of our relationship so far. It’s not that we weren’t doing good before, it’s more like we have finally learned how to make our marriage a priority while raising our little ones. (It’s hard, y’all!) We are so eager to glorify the Lord together!

The other print she made has Psalm 3:3 which reads, “But you, Lord, are a shield around me. My glory, the one who lifts my head high.” I had this made because my husband has been prone to seasons of depression. We both know, and believe that God’s word is an incredible tool when fighting against anxiety, depression, and unwanted thoughts. So I have this hanging in our living room to remind him, and all those who are within the walls of our home that God (our incredible, all-powerful, death-conquering God) is our shield. He protects us, and lifts our head when we are lowly in spirit.

I wrote a note to Tanner on the back of each frame, with words of love and encouragement to him. I imagine us looking at the sappy love notes years from now smiling, and remembering these days together. I love that our walls are being filled with our story. From our great triumphs, to our heart-wrenching struggles, it is the story of us.
