Raising Kind Humans

It all started with one small act of kindness that inspired me to go out of my way once a month to do something kind for someone else. Last June was one of the hardest months of my life. I was a “new” blogger, and trying to find my way in the crazy social media world. I guess I had never thought about how cruel the world could be, because it turned out that someone had created a group that focused on criticizing, and speaking horrible about me. I’ve always heard that if you choose to share your life with the world, you have to have thick skin. I clearly learned that the hard way. I cried myself to sleep day after day, struggling alone as I tried to deal with the horrible things being said about me online. Feeling misunderstood is such an awful feeling! After a few weeks, I shared a post on my Instagram, saying how I was struggling, and wanted to encourage others feeling the same way I was. When my friend Priscilla saw my post, she showed up to my parent’s house, (where I was currently spending the afternoon), with flowers, a handwritten card, and some treats. I was overwhelmed. I started crying. It’s not often you see someone go above and beyond to love you in your hardest moments. And this isn’t to take away from those who texted me, or called me, it’s simply to highlight the beauty of a friend’s selfless love in action. She’s a business owner, a mom of four, a homeschool teacher, and very involved at our church. And yet she still made time to love on me. It truly changed me! So I’d like to thank her for our newest family tradition. I’m so excited to share it with you this morning!

One of my heart’s desires as a momma is to raise kind humans. People who go out of their way to love others; not for their own personal status or gain, but simply out of a sincere heart for the people around them.

So on the first of every month, the kids and I will be dropping of bouquets of flowers, and a handwritten card to a few people’s doorsteps. (Thank you I Dew Flowers for creating the gorgeous bouquets for us!) I figured it would be a fun way to start the new month, and a great way to spread kindness. Us Krabill’s are determined to throw kindness around like confetti! (I’ve always wanted to say that :))

I have learned that I cannot control anyone but myself. And maybe this world has people who choose to put others down, but I choose to love. I choose kindness. “An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.” (Proverbs 12:25) And I want nothing more than for the family God has blessed me with to stand for the same values.

So happy September, friends! I’m so thankful for each of you! It’s a new month, and a fresh start. How can you spread kindness this month?

xo, Tay

Taylor! This post just makes me love you even more. I have been struggling with the same things. People saying mean things for no reason and it caused me to start saying mean things to myself. You are such a light in the social media world. I love that you aren’t afraid to share your faith and beliefs even if people tear you down because of it. The world needs more people like you.

I’m so glad we’ve become friends. Keep up everything you’re doing. I was the recipient of a random act of kindness this week as well and it is such a powerful way to lift others up. I’m inspired to do more of this myself. Love you to pieces.

I am just seeing this, but wow! Thank you SO much sweet friend. There are certainly people who will choose to be mean, but making friends like you along the way makes it all worth it. Thank you for your constant kindness, and support! I am truly grateful for it!! Maybe someday (Lord-willing) we will be able to meet in person!! Wishing you all the best, and want you to know I feel the same about YOU! You’re beautiful, and you make the world BETTER. xoxo, Tay
